Dear all
Just to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a great New Year. Without all of you the Youth Club would not be the success it is,the young people of Barns Green are very lucky to have you all so on behalf of them – Thank You.
Attached is the roster for January 2012 to March 2012. Let me know if any dates are an issue and if you have swapped with any one.
Thank you for your continuing support.
Simon
PS – Kat Filby who has been our assistant youth worker finishes with us in December 2011,big thank you to Kat we will all miss her. We are looking for a replacement so if you can recommend anyone I would be interested to hearing from you. The person needs to be good with young people able to take instruction from Anne and ideally be a few years older than the young people (>20). Anne will have the final say...........................................................................
To Management Committee and Support Members
Some updates for you.
Youth club is now is its sixth year and the numbers of young people coming has never been higher (we had 35 this week). The big issue for the group over the last year has been funding. We now get no support from West Sussex Youth Service and in fact (as reported in the local paper a few weeks ago) many clubs are closing. We have been working hard in the local area to raise funds and I am very happy to report that, with the continued support of the Parish Council and grants from the Police and the Barns Green Half Marathon committee,we should be able to operate until July 2013 without any major funding concerns. Great News!
The Big issue now is that despite our great support team we do not have enough male members. Each meeting must have as a minimum:-
· Youth worker
· Support youth worker
· Mix of three support group members (minimum of one male and one female)
We should not be running sessions without the above team. In fact, this is the biggest challenge to the club right now.
Therefore can I ask you all to ask people you know in the village to support the group with their time. You will need to tap people on the shoulder and ask face to face. We are looking for people who can give up one or two evenings per term (six hours every four months) to the group.
Also, can I please ask you all that if when you are on the rota for a week and you have a problem with the date please find a replacement. Please do not do this via email as in most cases this does not work. Please phone other members of the support group to arrange cover. The contact information is on the rota. Without the right staffing we should not be holding youth club sessions and we will have to start cancelling sessions if we can’t get the support.
Thank you all for your continuing support. We all live in a great village.
